MARIETTA — Senior community owner and operator Sterling Estates has announced the opening of its newest retirement neighborhood, Sterling Estates of West Cobb, in Marietta. The company celebrated the grand opening on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting and open house.
This is the second Sterling property to open in Cobb County; Sterling Estates of East Cobb opened in August 2012, with 120 seniors currently residing in both independent and assisted living.
“The success of our east Cobb property and encouragement from local officials let us know we were on the right track and inspired us to build another senior living community in west Cobb,” said Sterling Estates Managing Partner Mike Brown. “Our properties provide seniors and their families the opportunity to enjoy life in a safe, comfortable environment that meets their individual needs, whether for independent or assisted living.”
The new 25-acre community is at 3165 Dallas Highway, in the heart of west Cobb between Dallas Highway and Kennesaw View Drive. Like Sterling Estates of East Cobb, the west Cobb community has independent living cottages, garden homes and apartments in a classic neighborhood setting with walking paths, landscaped courtyards and pocket parks for resident enjoyment. When fully built out, the independent neighborhood will have 50- plus cottages and garden homes and 42 one- and two-bedroom apartments. An independent living clubhouse will be built in the future phase as well. The current phase opened with 16 cottages and garden homes and 21 apartments. In addition to independent living, the community has a main living residence with 90 living units, to be licensed as assisted living providing studio, one- and two-bedroom suites. This main residence, The Landmark, is now open with a variety of dining venues including Sterling Grill and a large Sterling Way wellness center with an indoor heated saltwater aerobic pool.
The west Cobb property opened for move-in in late August, and currently has 44 residents, with another 36 scheduled to move in over the next 3 to 4 weeks.
“We’re local developers, owners and managers, giving us the opportunity to be involved on a daily basis, which is what we love,” Brown said. “What we’ve learned through our 25 years of senior living development and ongoing management is that seniors are no different than anyone else; they want a variety of housing options. However, all seniors are looking for socialization opportunities, great food in an inviting setting, a desire to stay independent and the ability to age in place.”
